Welcome! After years of trolling home decor websites, clipping magazine features and obsessively pinning, it’s time to take the great leap forward and put thought into action.
My family of five recently survived a massive home remodel. We are happily enjoying it, but it still needs a soul. You know, those rich layers that lend it the feeling of home. I’ve dreamed of living in a house like this for years, but I’m worried my ever changing tastes will result in home that can’t evolve with me.
Luckily, my husband is an architect who deals with this kind of stuff every day. This can be both a blessing and a curse. I mean, sure, he knows what he’s doing. But I still need to go through my “process,” right? Right?
Because even though we’re done, we’re not done-done. There are still all sorts of projects that need attention, particularly on the outside.
One of the funnest — and most challenging — things about building a home is creating one that will grow with our three children.
We’ve doubled our square footage, which is great! But also a little intimidating. More space means the potential for more mess. So staying organized is key, natch. I want to squeeze function out of every detail.
More space also means more places for the kids to hide. I don’t want to never see them again! Creating a home with heart will hopefully draw us closer together.
So there you have it! Come join me on this wonderful adventure!
